TRANSPORTATION
At Southern Oregon University (SOU), we promote sustainable transportation options and provide electric vehicle charging.
Our Goals
- Improve commute transport related greenhouse gas emissions for staff, student and faculty
- Increase number of electric vehicle charging stations on campus
- Achieve 100% electric campus fleet
Electric Vehicle Charging
SOU currently has 16 charging ports (8 double stations) on campus. These charging stations are located both at residential buildings and near work place buildings.
Electric Vehicle Car Share
SOU has also partnered with the City of Ashland for an EV carshare program funded by Forth Mobility. The goal of the partnership is to provide access to affordable, all-electric cars for community members to test drive or use and the car and a single port charging station is being hosted at SOU. More information on this can be found at here.
Carpooling
Ride-Share – Connect with fellow SOU commuters and others on your route easily through the GetThereOregon.org website. Sign up with your SOU email, log your commutes, and look out for chances to win prizes through annual events!
Carpool Parking Permit – Want to get a carpool parking permit? Get a discount on your parking permit for sharing the ride. Make sure that you specify that you want a carpool permit.
Bicycles on Campus
Bikes are encouraged across campus as a quick way get around. SOU has installed a variety of covered bike racks where people can leave their bike during the day.
Promoting Bus Travel
Employees get a free bus pass! To get your employee bus pass, log into the UMO Pass App (Apple Store) (Google Play) with your SOU email address, then contact the Service Center service-center@sou.edu to finish registration.
