MATERIAL AND WASTE MANAGEMENT
At Southern Oregon University (SOU), we are committed to managing materials sustainably from the time they enter our campus until they leave, with the goal of maximizing the sustainable use of resources throughout their lifecycle. Our approach includes reducing waste through leasing, informed procurement decisions, and reuse.
When waste is produced, we strive to divert as much as possible from landfills by increasing our recycling efforts.
Our Goals
- Enhance waste reduction and recycling on campus to minimize landfill waste.
- Foster awareness and participation in waste reduction and SOU’s recycling programs.
- Eradicate single-use items on campus by 2030.
- Continuously monitor and improve our sustainable procurement practices.
