As part of our annual SOU new Student Orientation, students will have the unique opportunity to volunteer with the Mt. Ashland Ski Area during a slope care day. The partnership is part of a renewed effort between SOU and the Mt. Ashland Environment Committee to collaborate on environmental issues including soil erosion and water quality. SOU’s Ecology and Sustainability Resource Center (ECOS) will coordinate the event which will provide free transportation and lunch for all volunteers.

The event is scheduled for October 1st.  Advance sign-up will be available through ECOS during the New Student Orientation.  Student volunteers will work closely with mountain staff to continue efforts to restore vegetation and soil stability throughout the ski area.
